Bagless Vacuum Cleaners

Bagless vacuum cleaners aren’t a new invention, being around since the 1920’s, but they only really came into the mainstream in the 1990’s with the advent of the bagless Dyson vacuum cleaner range. So how do bagless vacuum cleaners measure up against that standard bagged vacuum cleaner we’ve been using for years.

The main selling point of the bagless vacuum cleaner unsurprisingly is that it’s “bagless”. When vacuuming a carpet with a standard vacuum cleaner, the dirt is collected in a small (usually strengthened paper) bag that sits inside the vacuum cleaner. Obviously it’s difficult to tell when the bag is full, whereas with a bagless cleaner, the dirt is captured inside a transparent cylinder so you know how full it is. If you vacuum up something you shouldn’t have it’s usually caught in the cylinder and can usually be found more easily than with the conventional bagged vacuum cleaner.

Bagless vacuums usually have a filter built into the machine. This may need regular cleaning to ensure vacuuming performance is maintained.

The filter’s can be a little expensive and fragile, so when choosing your bagless vacuum cleaner, be mindful of how easy it is to source replacement parts and filters.

As the bagless cleaner doesn’t require a bag, you have no problems with sourcing supplies of bags whDysich sometimes become unavailable. Also you save yourself a little cash not having to buy the bags and can feel a little good about yourself as you’re not purchasing vacuum bags that will just get thrown away.
